When most people think of Pinterest they think of recipes,
clothing, DIY projects, decorating, etc. Pinterest categories were originally
broader and they peaked the interest of primarily females. In the last couple
of years there has been a shift to more specific categories and a wider user
demographic. The automotive category is one of the main categories that draws
me to the site. The variety and quantity of posts about cars are extensive and
impressive.
The use of Pinterest as a social channel for automobiles can
benefit specific brands or dealers and their customers as well as every day
users who are not in the market for a vehicle. The incredible images can be
used to market vehicles or just give users and opportunity to connect with
their favorite cars and brands and share them with friends.

creativity in order to peak the interest of its users. Since images are so
prominent in social media, Pinterest excels at grabbing users’ attention and
keeping their focus with numerous and unique photos and videos. It has been
neat to see the success and popularity for the automotive category and I look
